Born on September 12, 1958, in Houston, Texas, Catherine — affectionately known as Cathy — grew up with a vibrant spirit and deep compassion for others. She attended South Houston High School, where she met the love of her life, Jack Dye. The two were married for 46 wonderful years and built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Cathy dedicated her life to caring for her family and nurturing the animals she adored. A true animal lover with a special fondness for horses, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life — whether riding her Palomino, named Princess in western pleasure competitions, and spending time on the water with Jack, or traveling to new places. Her infectious sense of humor and love for a good laugh made her a joy to be around, always ready with a smile or a silly joke.
Above all, Cathy cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She and Jack were blessed with two daughters, Amber and Danielle, and later, four beautiful grandchildren — Cody, Camdyn, Callyn, and Wade — who were the light of her life.
Cathy was a devoted friend who cherished her community and neighbors in Marina Village. She always made time for those around her, offering a warm smile, a listening ear, and a helping hand whenever it was needed. Her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone she met.
Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Wessels; stepfather, George Wessels; and mother-in-law, Christine Dye. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Dye; daughters, Amber McIntyre (Josh) and Danielle Smith (J.T.); and her beloved grandchildren: Cody, Camdyn, Callyn, and Wade. Aunt and Uncle Ralph and Hazel Matthews. Her legacy of love, laughter, and strength lives on in all of them.
Cathy will be remembered for her unwavering love, generous heart, and the joy she brought into every room. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
