Our beloved Carolyn Joy Reeves, age 91, passed away February 15, 2023, and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus. Carolyn was born to Hortense and Vernon Wylie in Mayfield, Kentucky but spent most of her adult life in Texas. Carolyn was so very loved and cherished by her family and we will miss her intelligence, dry wit, and loving care that she gave to each of us. Carolyn was a true lady - refined, polite, and well-spoken. Lady Carolyn would have been a well-suited and appropriate title for her - lovingly addressed and so aptly deserved.
Carolyn was a petite woman, but her spirit and drive were huge. She was a hard worker (she retired from Paktank Corporation in 1992) and had the respect of her family and her colleagues - she always rose to the occasion in everything she did. She only slowed down physically as age related conditions hampered her mobility, but her mind never slowed down. She was as sharp as ever until shortly before her passing. Life can be a challenge at times just going about our daily routines or when faced with daunting adversity, but there are those that meet that challenge with grace and determination and that can most assuredly be said of Carolyn Joy. Joy is her middle name you know, and she lived up to that moniker as well!
She is preceded in death by her parents Hortense and Vernon Wylie; husband Earl; sister and brother-in-law Norma and Ed Warren.
Carolyn is survived by her son Mark Wilson and his wife, Jennifer; daughter Carla Wilson Stokes and husband, Tom; granddaughter Christi Smith and husband, Tommy; granddaughter Hadley Wilson; grandson Zach Wilson; granddaughter Shelley Marie Stokes; Sister Jamie Thompson and husband, Gary; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held honoring her life at 1:30pm, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, followed by Interment.
