Brett loved spending time with his daughters, Kinsley and Kayslin. As a big kid himself, he enjoyed doing puzzles with them, building Legos and playing Bingo. They also loved snuggling together for movies and playing games on his phone.
Brett had a passion for sports, particularly the Houston Texans. His numerous childhood sports statuettes show his many interests including football, baseball and soccer. As an adult he enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He also loved live music and video games. A few of his favorite bands were Slipknot, Deftones and Korn, who he enjoyed seeing in concert last year with his sister, Devan.
Another passion was scuba diving with Al, and friends Robert and Zach Salinas, in Mexico. They traveled to many different diving areas. On one trip he was fortunate to have the amazing experience of swimming with a huge whale shark.
Brett worked at Centauri for more than a year. While there he appreciated the camaraderie of his coworkers and the feeling of accomplishment he had with his work.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jerry Alexander, Leslye Dugie and Alfonso Caballero. He is survived by his daughters, Kinsley and Kayslin; mother and step-father, Sabrina and Lynn Howe; father and step-mother, Al and Kiersten Caballero; grandmother, Wilma Caballero; grandfather, Benny Dugie; sister Devan Howe; and step-sisters Blythe Adam, Caroline Scherzer and husband Seth, Kayla Hughes and husband Matt; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

I’M FREE
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,
Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch
If my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
