Brenda Marie Beaman was born on January 3, 1949, in Greenwood Mississippi to the late Erma Lee Beaman and Ben Beaman III. At an early age she professed her love and belief for Christ and became a member at Travelers’ Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Brenda transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2023, at her home with her daughter by her side.
Brenda received her early childhood education in the Greenwood Public School System and was a 1966 honor graduate of Threadgill Junior-Senior High School. She would go on to attend Jackson State College (currently known as Jackson State University) where she majored in Biology. In the Fall of 1969, she was one of four students to attend the University of Mississippi Medical School in Jackson, Mississippi as a “Pilot” student that integrated the University of Mississippi Allied Health Sciences Program in Medical Technology. By the end of 1970, Brenda had completed the Medical Technology Program, graduating with a Certification in Medical Technology. She also completed her undergraduate career at Jackson State College, which equated to the completion of two degrees in four years – B.S. in Biology and Registered Medical Technologist.
Brenda became affiliated with the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Spring 1969) Delta Pi Chapter, Jackson State College.
Brenda’s 40-year professional career encompassed Laboratory Medicine, Teaching, Training/Development, Research, Laboratory Instrument Interfacing, Laboratory Information Systems Coordination and Troubleshooting as a Systems Analyst II. Her Tours of Duty included: The University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, TX), Veterans Administration Hospital (Dallas, TX), University of Mississippi Medical Center Acute Care Laboratory (Jackson, MS), Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health Center (Jackson, MS), Indiana University (Immunology) Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation (Indianapolis, IN), Sickle Cell Anemia Screening and Educational Program Mississippi (Jackson, MS), University of Mississippi Medical Center Neonatology Center (Jackson, MS).
She also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Notable Women of Texas for her inclusion in biographical publication of the Limited First Edition of Notable Women of Texas for noteworthy contributions to community and the state of Texas.
She was given the “Award of Distinction” in recognition of being the Best Mom in the whole entire Universe. The award was presented by her Amber.
Brenda was a faithful member of the Abundant Love Christian Center, where she served under the leadership of Pastors Cornelius and Yolanda Carroll.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Ben Beaman III; grandfather, Fletcher Rucker; grandmother, Rosa Rucker; sister, Shelia D. Lee; and mother, Erma Lee Beaman. To cherish, treasure and keep her memory alive, she leaves her only daughter Amber Beaman; a brother, Fletcher Beaman; grandchildren Adara, Ayana, Amari, Daven, and Journie; brother-in-law, Creighton Lee Sr.; Niece, Angela Roberson; Nephews: Carlos, Creighton Jr., and Fletcher II; great nieces: Kennedi and Kirsten; great nephews: Carlos Roberson Jr., Koleton King, Jaydan Roberson, Fletcher Beaman III and other relatives, extended family and friends.
