Barbara Jean Carruth West, 92, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 15, 2023. She was born in Miami, Texas on January 17, 1930 to Clyde L. and Virginia E. Carruth. She was married to Russell G. West, Jr. for 67 years. Barbara had a career in retail and worked for several businesses including JC Penney and Card & Party House. She was a member of Kirkwood South Christian Church. She had a passion for her family, art, decorating, serving others and dancing, to name just a few.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell G. West, Jr; parents, Clyde L. and Virginia E. Carruth; in-laws, Russell G. and Mildred West, Sr. Her sisters and brothers, Eleanor Beard, Yvonne Winegart, John Lloyd Carruth and Dane Carruth and wife, Beverly. Her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Waltine and husband, Robert Zimmerman, Virginia Lee Doane, Don West and wife, Bobbee West.
Barbara is survived by her children Gina Lozano and husband Baldemar, Miles West, Todd West, Julie Valenti and husband Steve and Tara Dittmann and husband William; grandchildren, Clint Lozano, Angie Horne-Griffiths and husband Chris, Tony Lozano and wife Abbey, Rachel Valenti Taylor, Gina Valenti, Dwight West and wife Rebecca, Tristan Dittmann, Layne Dittmann and Katelyn Dittmann; great-grandchildren, Major Horne, Marshal Horne, Abbey Griffiths, Lydia Fregia, Eric Marshall, Emma Taylor, Mia Lozano, Caroline West and Anna West; numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral to start at 10:00 a.m. and a committal to follow. Reception to follow committal. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
