Wilbur F. Owen

Wilbur F. Owen, age 92, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023. Wilbur was born in Haywood County, NC on September 8, 1930 to the late Lowery and Louise Owen.

Wilbur was in the US Army. He retired from BASF in Candler. He was an avid musician, singing and playing with Apple Creek Gospel Quartet. He had a love for bluegrass music. Wilbur was a great neighbor always being the first to lend a hand. His passion was repairing old washers and dryers that could help benefit someone in need.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Ricky Owen; and brother, Edward Owen.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Kirby Owen; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2023 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the service from 1 to 2 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.
