Canton-Wendell Lee Robinson, 81 passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Silver Bluff Nursing and Rehab. Wendell was born in Haywood County, NC on January 5, 1941, to the late Reverend Albert and Mildred Marlowe Robinson. He loved going fishing, especially at Fontana Lake. Wendell will be remembered for his woodworking abilities, which he was self taught. He also enjoyed restoring old Monte Carlos and going to car shows, especially with his best friend Jackie Davis.
In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pitts Chambers Robinson; and his grandson, Ryan Lee Robinson.
Wendell is survived by his son, Dwayne Robinson, of South Carolina; daughter, Sharon Robinson, of Sylva; son, Walter Robinson (Christy) of Tennessee; grandchildren, Trista, Spenser, Tyler (Makenzie), Lucas, Jessie, and Hallie; great-grandchildren, Carter, Lakyn, Rayden, Gannon, and Jessie; sisters, Louise and Mona (Carl); brothers, Joe, Dan and Sam (Gerry); several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 11, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend John Swanger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
