Vera Elizabeth (Caldwell) Nelson

Vera Elizabeth Caldwell Nelson, age 93, of Waynesville, NC went to be with The Lord on Monday, May 6, 2024. She was born April 4, 1931 to the late Harden and Fannie Caldwell.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Nelson; brother, Clifford Caldwell; daughter in law, Katie Nelson.

Vera retired from the Haywood County Hospital in the dietary department. She was also a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy (Layne) York; son, Johnny Nelson, Sr.; grandchildren, Jill Mann, Sherry Spurlin, and Johnny Nelson, Jr.; great grandchildren, Molly Mann, Amanda Smith, Jody Mann, and Lindsey Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
