Valerie Shelton Eavenson Holloway

Waynesville-Valerie Shelton Eavenson Holloway, 89 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 21, 2020, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Valerie was born in Haywood County on March 22, 1931, to the late Spurgeon and Minnie Hendricks Shelton. She was widely known for her sewing. Valerie wrote many Christian plays which were enjoyed by those in the community. The love of Valerie’s life was her family. She was very dedicated in church music and activities throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Valerie was preceded in death by her first husband, World War II Veteran, Tom Eavenson; her second husband, Reverend Virgil Holloway; sons, Garry and Barry Eavenson; daughter, Joy Eavenson; brothers and sisters, Jessie Mae Brown, Clarence Shelton, Christine Brown, Irene Howell, and Kenneth Shelton; and grandchildren, Ricky Eavenson, Alan Walker, Isaiah Messer.

Valerie is survived by her children, Patsy Plemmons (Larry), Peggy Messer (Manson), Tommy Eavenson, Scotty Eavenson (Kathy); daughters-in-law, Peggy Caldwell Eavenson and Ailene Fortner Eavenson; and 48 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 23, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Chris Willett officiaiting.
