Ruth was a second mother to me. Only one house separated me from Ruth’s home in Cresskill where her youngest, Margaret, was my best friend. Ruth opened her home and heart to me as a child. I had a free pass to come over for a meal, to watch MTV, to play in the attic, to listen to records, to sleep over, and in my most treasured memories, to join the family for New Year’s Eve and on vacations in Blenheim and Jekyll Island. Without Ruth’s generosity I would never have experienced life beyond Cresskill. Ruth made me feel part of her large, loving family. She was a quiet but solid presence in my young life and I am forever grateful.  Thank you, Ruth, for giving me so many wonderful and joyful childhood memories— and most of all, thank you for giving me Maggie.          My deepest condolences to the family.
