Robert "Bob" D. Whitner

Robert “Bob” D. Whitner, 73 of Waynesville, NC passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The Homestead. He was born on June 23, 1943 to the late Lawrence Dewey and Martha Jane Conner Whitner. Bob retired from the Town of Waynesville as a Supervisor for the Water Treatment Plant. He attended Rocky Branch Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Shelton, Annie Mauldin, and Kay Grasty; and a brother, D.A. Whitner. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Paul Dewayne Whitner; two stepsons, James Darren Moody and Benjamin Lee Moody; three sisters, Estella Arrington and husband Albert “Red”, Mary Lee Creasman, and Virgie Inman; and numerous nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Garrett Funeral Home with the Reverend’s Jeff Heatherly, Ronald Gardner, and Kenny Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
