August 30, 1961 – December 27, 2024
Patrick “Scooby” Koch, 63, of Waynesville, NC, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2024, in the place he loved most.
Born in Erie, PA, on August 30, 1961, to Beverly and Jerry Koch, Patrick shared his boundless creativity, kindness, and lion-hearted spirit with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A master of his craft, Patrick was a remarkable custom tile and medallion creator. For over 20 years, he was a well-known local artisan and founder of Creative Tile Concepts before continuing his work independently. His artistry and attention to detail provided the area with stunning, permanent works of art. Patrick took immense pride in his work, and those who called on him knew it would be done right.
When he wasn’t creating, Patrick found joy and freedom riding his Harley — especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway — playing his guitar, and spending meaningful time with family and friends.
Patrick was a caring and supportive father to his children: Steven Thompson, Rachael Koch, Troy Koch, and Kylea Jones. He was also a strong father figure to Jacob Mariano, Amanda Mariano, and Melissa Coakley. Patrick is survived by his parents, Beverly and Jerry Koch, and his brother, Scott Koch.
The family will host a celebration of Patrick’s life at a later date, where friends and loved ones can gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers or gifts, a GoFundMe has been established to support the family and honor his legacy.
Patrick’s impact lives on in the countless lives he touched. He will forever be remembered as a kind soul who lived life full throttle.
