Myrtle Susie (Fitzgerald) Noland

Myrtle Susie (Fitzgerald) Noland, age 85, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Myrtle was born in Haywood County, NC on October 22, 1937 to the late Ted and Hester Sutton and adopted and raised by the late Clem and Myrtle Fitzgerald.

Myrtle was very well known in our community volunteering her time with the Salvation Army. She was a lifelong member of Ninevah Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She also enjoyed canning and freezing home grown produce. She enjoyed the genealogy of her family. One of her biggest joys was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Cole Sutton, Ina Rich, Lloyd Sutton, Theodore Sutton and Rufus Sutton.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 67 years, Mack William Noland; son, Steven William Noland (Cindy) and Michael Fitzgerald Noland (Tina); brother, Luther Sutton; sister, Nettie Hooper; grandchildren, Caitlin Bledsoe (James), Travis Noland, Caleb Noland (Lacey) and Alyssa Livanos (Ari); great grandchildren, Asa Noland, Violet Noland, Isla Noland, Braxton Bledsoe and Briggs Bledsoe; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Myrtle will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Leslie officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Green Hill Cemetery.
