Murray Neal McDougall, age 78, of Sylva, NC, was called home on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was born to missionary parents in Jos, Nigeria to the late Edna Mae and Stewart Minto McDougall.
Murray attended Biola University; was a graduate of Cal State Fullerton with a degree in History; He completed his masters degree at Talbot Theological Seminary in La Mirada California.
He was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; He served the Lord from the far reaches of Southern Africa to the homeless on Main Street at the Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles, CA. He was a lover of the written word, wit, wisdom and the beauty of music, all of which he shared with his children, grandchildren, and family at large. He loved greatly and was greatly loved.
He was the husband of Janet Grace Carlson and is survived by his siblings: Colin McDougall of Robbinsville, Donald McDougall of Battleground, WA, Janet McDougall of Robbinsville, and William "Bill" McDougall of Ogden, UT. His children: Heather McDougall, Cheri McDougall of Sylva, Lori McDougall of Sylva, Michael (Diane) McDougall and James (Stephanie) McDougall. Grandchildren: Clarissa (Zane) Carroll, James-Ian, Meryem, Ethan, David, Landen, Nate, Jeremiah, Hanaa and Hope. Great Grandchildren: Zoee and Elias.
A memorial service will be held at a family reunion in July in Sylva, NC.
