Maxine Greene passed away at her home in Waynesville, NC on November 6, 2020, with her husband N.L. (Bud) Greene by her side. She was born on June 10, 1946, to Georgia P. and John Franklin Dean. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Bud for 50+ years and sons Todd (Geneva) with sons Garris, Jonny and Mark and Drew (Rose) with daughters Dylan and Cydnee. She is also survived by her sister Linda Spink - her daughter Tracey with sons Mason and Morgan. Also survived by her brother Frank Dean (Vonda) with nephew Caleb.
Maxine lived her childhood years in Elizabethton, TN and most of her adult life in Charlotte, NC or Birmingham, AL. Upon retirement, she and Bud moved to Waynesville, NC. There she found enduring peace in this little mountain town surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and tranquility.
After attending ETSU, she had a fulfilling career in the travel industry working for Eastern Air Lines and later managing for a travel agency before retiring in 2008. She cherished the time she spent time with family and friends. She took great pleasure in watching her sons and grandsons grow and cooking their favorite dishes. Her greatest joy in life was being a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was an avid walker who enjoyed travel and also having the family visit her in the mountains.
Maxine was a member of the FUMC in Waynesville. The Memorial Service is not yet scheduled but will be family only, at the church. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Care Angels and/or Hospice, both of Haywood County, NC, or a charity of choice in her name.
