Waynesville-Mary Etta Aldridge Putnam, 87, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Mary was born in Haywood County on February 28, 1930, to the late James and Lula Presley Aldridge. Mary loved to travel, especially going on cruises with family and going to the beach, but her favorite thing to do was going to Lake Chatuge. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Putnam; and four sisters and three brothers. Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Putnam; her daughter, Rosemary Sutton and her husband David; her two sons, Charles Putnam and Terry Putnam and his wife Charlotte; her brother, David Aldridge; her grandchildren, Chris Sutton, Melanie Sutton Snare, Tracy Lee, Kendra Reeder, Jenny Kuykendall, Lindsey Putnam, Cassie Putnam, Matthew Clark, and Daniel Clark; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 29, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Wayne Price officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
