Before her health declined, Mary was a church pianist, and worked at HVO in the quality control department. Mary loved all types of music. She wrote many original songs and cantatas. She was an advocate for children, and served as a Guardian Ad Litem for several years. Mary attended Jonathan Creek Baptist Church and loved hearing the teaching of her cousin, Billy Ferguson.
Mary, known as Minnie to her grandchildren, adored her family and the time she spent with them. She loved traveling, cooking, and watching Bluey with them. She would do anything to make them giggle. She will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Mehaffey (Chris), Melanie Sosa (Sam), grandchildren Rachel, Drew, Olivia and Helen, special niece Crystal Messer, brother David Clement (Carol), sister Laurie Cagle (Ace), brother Jeff Noland (Kim), sister Linda Rathbone (Larry), brother John Noland (Sammie), brother Walter Noland (Deanna), and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mary’s close friends, niece Sharon Noland, and other special family members who lifted her spirits and took care of her during her period of declining health. They would also like to thank the members of the WFD and HCEMS who assisted her in her last days, and the HRMC staff for the compassionate care from the ER dept, 4th floor, and ICU.
Mary’s favorite musician was Elton John, and one of Jennifer’s favorite memories is his concerts they saw together. These lyrics came to mind when remembering her. “I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words how wonderful life is while you’re in the world.”
Per Mary’s request, a private service will be held at a later date.
