Marjorie Kelley Flanagan passed away to her heavenly home on June 12, 2020 in Waynesville, NC. She was the youngest of five children and the daughter of James Arthur Kelley and Velma Wreath Kilbreth Kelley. She was born on April 29th, 1934 in Fairfield, IL. She was the sister of Barbara Irene Kelley Edwards (living), and preceding her in death were her brothers, Arthur Murrel Kelley, Lowell Dale Kelley, and Norman Kelley, as well as her parents and husband, Don.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a lover of music, art, cooking, and gardening. She was known for her wonderful kindness, excellent cooking, and seamstressing and crochet work. She was a member of a group of church ladies who sewed dresses for little girls in need back in the 1950's and 60's. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1952 and Rend Lake College in 1982 with an Associate of Arts as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was a homemaker and preacher's wife, and formerly worked for AirTex (Fairfield, IL) and Mt. Vernon Register News (IL).
She was married to Donald Theo Flanagan on November 15, 1952, until he passed away on August 7th, 2014. They had three daughters still living, Jacque Flanagan Brien (Clarence Edward Brien), Sharon K. Flanagan, and Kelley G. Flanagan (formerly Fulford). She has two grandchildren, Christopher Edward Brien and Meaghan Kelley Fulford, and two great-grandchildren, Zachary Christopher Brien and Alyssa Nicole Brien.
Out of respect for her wishes, she will have a quiet, family-only funeral at Garrett Funeral Home in Waynesville, NC, followed by an entombment in the Garrett Mausoleum beside her husband.
