Maggie Valley-Lowell Thomas Hannah, died on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Lowell was born in Little Cataloochee, on January 13, 1936, to the late Mark E. and Verda Messer Hannah. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially mowing, working with his tractor, trout fishing, camping, and visiting Cataloochee. His father, Mark, was the first Park Ranger at Cataloochee. Lowell loved to tinker and was able to make most anything he needed. He came from a very large musical family and was well known for his intricate guitar skills. In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of their only child (Debbie), Mary Rich Hannah; his second wife, Trina Parson Hannah; his sister, Helen Trantham; a very special nephew, Larry Trantham; his brothers-in-law, Sam Smith, Dick Stokes, and Claude Trantham; his sister-in-law, Betsy Stokes Trantham; and his niece’s husband, Glenn Mooney. Lowell is survived by his daughter, Debbie Hannah-Franklin (Ricky); brothers, Harold Hannah (Ethel) and Don Hannah; sisters, Lillian Stokes, Lois Hardison, and Joyce Smith; grandson, Jody Franklin (April); great-grandchildren, Dillon, Sierra, Mia, Allie, and Destiny; and great-great-grandchildren, Jayden and Finnley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Dr. Mike Odom and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Saturday, August 19, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations. He loved his family. He loved his music.
