Louise McClure Corbin, age 94, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. Louise was born March 17, 1928 in Haywood County, NC to the late Edward Wheeler and Julia Hooper McClure.
Louise worked for 40 years in many capacities at Barber's Apple Orchard including the original bakery. She worked as an election official for over 40 years and served as chief judge for many of those years at the Saunook voting poll. She was lifelong member of Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church where she served many years as an officer and chairman of various committees. Her church and its members were the anchor that gave her the strength and faith to face any adversity and celebrate any achievement.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur Corbin; son, Buddy Corbin; brothers, Joe and Bill McClure; and sisters, Iris Blanton, Jane Woody, and Ollie McClure.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Lou (Tom) Daily, Suzanne (Rodger) McEntire, and Mike (Judy) Corbin; sister, Ann (Jimmy) McClure Plott; grandchildren, Chuck (Kay) Daniel, Courtney McEntire, Jamie (Heather) McEntire, Michael Corbin, Chris Corbin, Maribeth (John) Bond, Kim (Jason) Clark and Joey (Lauren) Daily; and great grandchildren, Nick Daniel, Abbey Daniel, Savannah McEntire, Sydney McEntire, McKinley McEntire, Emily Bond, Parker Bond and Addie Clark; and a host of many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to acknowledge Nancy Blanton, Danny Hooper, Gladys Messer, and Glenn Stewart for their love and devotion to Louise.
Funeral services for Louise will be held at 2 PM Friday, September 30, 2022 at Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service at the church from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will be held Plott Saunook Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the grandchildren with honorary pallbearers, Tom Daily, Rodger McEntire, Danny Hooper and Glenn Stewart.
The family has expressed that masks will be available for visitation and funeral.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church.
