Lauren Olivia Denty, 35, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 14th, in Waynesville, North Carolina, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer. Through it all, she faced every challenge with unwavering strength, grace, and her signature smile, bringing light to those around her even in the hardest of times.
Born on December 9th, 1989, in Clyde, Lauren was a dedicated and loving early education and preschool teacher whose passion for shaping young minds left a lasting impact on many. She was also a devoted supporter of local law enforcement and played a vital role in her community by opening and managing the local All Ways Caring office. Beyond her professional work, Lauren was an avid crafter whose creativity knew no bounds. She was known for her twisted sense of humor, her infectious smile that could light up any room, and the warmth and joy she brought to those around her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Madalyn Smith; her mother, Karen Denty; her sisters, Morgan Denty (Jonay & Ava), Jadyn Ashe (Jacob), Anne Bendall (Travis and children), and Sarah Denty; her grandparents, Lou and Paulette Snyder and Merilyn Denty; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Stephen Denty; her grandfather, Lawrence Denty; her great-grandmother, Myrtle Van Zandt, and her great-aunt Pat and great-uncle Bubba.
A Welcome of Friends reception will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Love service at 2:00 pm, both at Garrett Funeral Home, 460 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
In lieu of flowers, love offerings for continued care of Lauren’s daughter, Madalyn, may be sent to 4445 Signal Ridge Court, Buford, GA 30518. Lauren’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
