Waynesville-Laura Macey Holcomb, 94, died on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at her residence. Macey was born in Marshall County, Alabama, the oldest of eight children, on March 2, 1923, to the late Albert Theo and Lora Grace Yarborough Cook who were sharecroppers. She was generous to a fault, helping anyone in need. Macey was a Christian woman and a member of the Church of Christ, never missing a service until her health diminished. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, who all called her Mimi. In addition to her parents, Macey was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Holcomb; son Mac Holcomb; brothers, Aubrey, Winford, and Glendon Cook; sister, Nellie Mason; and daughter-in-law, Gwen Holcomb. Macey is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Sue Brown; a brother, Benna Cook; sisters, Jane Anderson and Mary Jo Cosner ; grandchildren, Bruce Holcomb, Jeff and Joey Hutto; and great-grandson, Willie Joe Hutto. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 29, at Green Hill Cemetery with Macey’s grandsons, Jeff and Joey Hutto, sharing memories of Macey’s life.
