Waynesville-Karen Lynn Gaskill Baker, 48 was born on December 8, 1973 in Cumberland County, NJ to the late William Franklin Gaskill, Sr. and late Sherry Lynn Phillips of Cumberland County, NJ.
Karen was a Jersey Girl at heart, but the mountains of WNC is where she called home.
Karen was a devoted wife, a caring Mom, nurturing sister and most of all a loving Nana.
She spent the majority of her life working as a in home caregiver. Karen was a gorgeous woman with a contagious smile. Beyond her undeniable beauty, Karen was gifted the ability to make everyone around her feel loved. Her energy was magnetic & you were instantly drawn to her. Her compassion was endless. She enjoyed spending time with family, camping, vacationing, dancing, cooking and so much more.
Karen's life was taken tragically on Wednesday, July 13th 2022.
In addition to her parents, Karen was reunited in Heaven with her beloved son, Dakota Devoe Gaskill.
Karen is survived by her husband, Justin Baker, of Charlotte, NC.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Michael McClure (Victoria) of Charlotte,
William McClure (Angela) of Canton, Sherry Hinson of Bethel and two step daughters, Crystal McClure Leyva of Maggie Valley and Julie McClure Frady of Leicester.
The absolute loves of her life, her grandchildren, Harlan, Huxton, Camila McClure.
Brothers, Billy Gaskill of Waynesville, Russell Hyson of New Jersey.
Sisters, Keisha Gaskill of Waynesville and Jenny Gaskill of Clyde.
Nephews, Thomas Trantham of Sylva, and Johnny Trantham of Sylva.
Nieces, Elizabeth Trantham of Leicester and Alyssa Sutton of Canton.
Nephews, Scottie and Jake and nieces, Erin and Cortney Eckhoff of Clyde, NC.
An uncle, Tommy Phillips (Toni) of Vineland, NJ; and cousins, Ruble Taylor, of Waynesville, and Kortnee and Brittney of New Jersey.
Karen always said to her children, "When it's my time to go, the Lord will ask, did you love everyone and love with all of your heart?" and her reply would be, "I loved with everything in me."
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 28, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with Richie Tannerhill officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
