Joseph Sutton

Jonathan Creek-Joseph R. Sutton, 75, passed away on February 26, 2015, at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long illness. Joe was born on June 30, 1939, to the late Thad and Essie Caldwell Sutton. Joe was a resident of Haywood County and graduated from Waynesville Township High in 1957. Joe was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Nora Winchester Sutton who died in 1970; a son, Joseph Sutton, Jr.; brothers, Floyd, Hilliard, and Pete Sutton; brother-in-law, Tom Beck; and sister-in-law, Barbara Rich Sutton. Joseph is survived by a daughter Louise Goss (Michael); grandson Jonathan Cody Ruff; sister, Addie (Cookie) Beck; sister-in-law, Verlie Sutton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 2, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sutton-Caldwell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Sunday, March 1, at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Cookie Beck.
