James Charles "Charlie" Smith

James Charles "Charlie" Smith, age 73, of Clyde, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Charlie was born on November 2, 1949, to the late James Earl and Martha Wilda Brown Smith. Charlie served his country honorably in the US Army. He retired from Evergreen Packaging after many years of faithful service.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Johnnie Smith.

Charlie is survived by his sisters, Marlene Welch (Bruce) and Dianne Poteat (Allen); sister-in-law, Deb Smith; nephew and nieces, Kyle Smith, Kaleena Sawyer, Carey Lowe, Kristie Smith, Beth Poteat and Brooke Atwood.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 10, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Jeff Moore officiating. Burial with military funeral honors will be at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
