James Wayne Howell

James Wayne Howell “US Air Force Veteran” James Wayne Howell, 81, of Canton, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the NC Veteran’s Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Haywood County born on May 3, 1935 to the late Harry S. and Zelma Jaynes Howell. He proudly served and retired from the US Air Force following 22 years of service. Following his military service he retired from the town of Waynesville. He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Charles Ray Howell. He is survived by Patsy Howell and their children, Jeff Howell and wife Samantha, Alan Howell, Jamie Fuentes and husband, Claudio; sisters, Barbara Williamson, Fran Miller, and Bette Edwards; grandchildren, Donovan, Jackson, Nadia, and Aidan. Memorial Services will be held at 12 PM, October 7, 2016 at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Legion and VFW Posts of Haywood County.
