Glen Franklin Rich

Glen Franklin Rich, age 92, of Maggie Valley, NC passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Glen was born July 26, 1930, in Haywood County to the late Clifford and Wilma Caldwell Rich.

Glen retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He enjoyed bear hunting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved going to his cabin on Harmon's Den. He had a special bond with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Rich; great-grandson, Trevor Burgess.

Glen is survived by daughter, Vicky Burgess (Wayne) son, Butch Rich (Coleen); siblings, Grace McGaha, Sally Clark, Alice Malady, Thomas Rich, and Dwight Rich; four grandchildren, Tim Burgess (Libby), Tiffany Taylor (Scott), Trent Burgess (Andi), and Ken Rich; eight great-grandchildren, C.J. and Alex Rich, Hannah Cioce (Nick), and Camille, Declan, Everett, Finley, and Griffin Taylor; Carter Burgess; great great grandchildren, Liam Bullock and Brooks Cioce and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend's Jerry Nelson and Davis Plemmons officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Tim and Trent Burgess, Ken and CJ Rich, Randy Ledford, and Doug West serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his bear hunting buddies.
