Gerald “Jerry” Francis Koch, 86 of Waynesville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 1, 2025.
Jerry was born June 24, 1938 in Springboro, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Smock) Koch. After serving in the United States Army and having a memorable encounter with a moose while stationed in Alaska, he returned home to Pennsylvania where he married the love of his life, Beverly (Edwards) Koch. Together they raised two sons in a life that spanned multiple states.
Jerry and his wife worked at Methodist Children's Home in Florida. He also worked for the Daytona Beach News-Journal, retiring in 1999. He was a man of strong faith and enjoyed sharing the Word with others. He taught Sunday school for many years. He was an avid ham radio operator.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by two sisters, Mary Beth Koch and Carole Keep; a son, Patrick “Scooby” Koch; and a granddaughter, Kaylin Koch.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Denielle Koch; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters Barbara Pendrak and Betty Angstadt; and several nieces and nephews.
