Waynesville, George Edward Clifford Jr. 85, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at his residence with his wife and daughter by his side. Born in Gary, IN on March 14, 1935 to the late George Edward Clifford Sr. and Addie Pauline Clifford James.
George enjoyed playing jazz music and spent years touring all over the United States and Canada. He also played music at many local venues around Western North Carolina, including the Biltmore Winery and the Grove Park Inn. In addition he played in a praise band at Long’s Chapel for Minister Rob Fuquay. George was a retired educator and spent years as a high school, middle school, elementary school, adult education guidance counselor, and teacher. He started the elementary school counseling program in Sarasota, FL. In addition to these talents George was an avid sailor and enjoyed racing multi hulls. George was also a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister Georgina Malecki.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Pauline Allums Clifford; Brother Bertrand Clifford; Sister Lillian Lucky; Daughter Lisa Clifford; and Granddaughter Jessica Clifford.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
