FRANK SAMUEL WILLIAMS Frank Samuel Williams, 83, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at home. A native of Morganton, North Carolina, Mr. Williams was the son of the late John Herndon and Bertie Whitmire Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Florence, the love of his life. He was also preceded by his sisters Marguerite Curtis, Betty Setzer and Mamie Suddreth and his brothers Clarence Williams and Albert Williams. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Martin. Mr. Williams was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was quarterback of the football team and star gymnast and was an active alumnus. Prior to his retirement he was vice-president for Southern Manufacturing. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Kat and Jeff Elliott; son Andy Williams; daughter and son-in-law Linda Kornegay-Hunter and Preston Hunter and daughter and her finance Susan Williams Mauldwin and Chad Cockrell, Jr. He is also survived by his grandson Michael and wife, Jessica Elliott, grandson Stephen and wife, Katelin Elliott, granddaughter Brittney Kornegay and finance, Jeffrey Hurt and grandson Lance Corporal Tyler Kornegay. He also has three great grandchildren Hailey, Michaella and Jayden Elliott. The children and grandchildren of Mr. Williams wish to thank Patti Springfield for being so loving and caring to our father and grandfather over the last four years. Mr. Williams was a former member of Harrison United Methodist Church in Pineville, NC and Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Waynesville, NC where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 1, in the chapel of Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Reverend David Childers officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends one our prior to the service in the chapel.
