Waynesville-Edna Hollingsworth Davis, 85 was called Home on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Haywood Regional Medical Center in the presence of her children. Edna was born in Haywood County on May 19, 1933, to the late Walter and Grace Farmer Hollingsworth. She enjoyed her flowers, watching birds, and was known as a great cook. Edna was a fashionable dresser and in her earlier years made her own clothes, drapes, and children’s clothes. In later years, she was affectionately known as Aunt or Granny Putt. She worked for the Champion Mill in Canton and retired as the last receptionist and switchboard operator. Edna was a longtime member of East Waynesville Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband Robert Wendell Davis; and brothers, Carmel, and James Hollingsworth.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Terry “Darlene” Davis; son Wendell “Alan” Davis (Shannon); brother, Mark Hollingsworth; sisters, Hazel Hollingsworth and Betty Harris; grandchildren, Jeremy Davis (Jessica) and Shea Davis (Stevie); and great-grandchildren, Annaleigh, Abigail, Henry and Skyler. She is also survived by many beloved in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and
Cremations with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, May 6, at the funeral home.
