Earl Johnson

Earl Johnson, 76, of Maggie Valley, NC passed away April 29, 2014. He was born in Mills River, NC on June 4, 1937, to the late Hugh and Lovedia Ward Johnson. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, Inc. He retired from Dayco following 32 years of service where he was a devoted member of the USW #277. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Sue Johnson; two brothers, Howard and Glenn Johnson; and one sister, Bennie Mae Moore.

Survivors include, his wife, Mildred Setzer Johnson; children, Clifford Dale Johnson and his wife Patti, Freddy Royster and wife Donise, Deborah J. Barker and husband Ricky, Mary J. Bidwell and husband Barry; sister, Hazel Baker; brother, Charles Johnson; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Suday, May 4, 2014, in the Chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Valor Hospice, Charles George VA Medical Center.
