Doyle David Mathis

Doyle David Mathis, age 76, of Waynesville, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 18, 2022. Doyle was born in Haywood County on December 5, 1946, to the late Ed and Hattie Robinson Mathis. Doyle was an avid bass fisherman. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting with his friends, and was an avid Tuscola sports fan. Doyle owned and operated Top Hat Chimney Sweep and worked at Wellco for many years before starting his business.

In addition to his parents, Doyle was preceded in death by his daughter, Nichole Mathis Reeves; brother, Leroy Mathis; and sister, Betty Gribble.

Doyle is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Eva Barnes Mathis; son, Stacey Wyatt (Amy); granddaughters, Arden Grace Reeves, Christian Singleton (Drew), and Leah Wyatt; son-in-law, Bryan Reeves; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 22, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
