Donald Theo Flanagan Aug 10, 2014 --> Waynesville, NC — Donald Theo Flanagan passed away on August 7th, 2014 at the Brian Center in Waynesville, NC. Born on August 22th, 1925 in their farm house in Woodlawn, IL, the youngest son of Samuel and Nellie (Moore) Flanagan. He married Marjorie Kelley on November 15, 1952. He is survived by his three daughters Jacque Marlene Brien (Edward) of Palatine, IL. Sharon Kay Flanagan and Kelley Gail Flanagan (formerly Fulford) of Waynesville, NC. One grandson, Christopher Edward Brien (Vanessa) of Schaumberg, IL and Meaghan Kelley Fulford of Waynesville, NC. Two great grandchildren, Zachary Christopher Brien and Alyssa Nicole Brien of Schaumberg, IL. He is also survived by several neices and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Clifton, Virgil, Willard Flanagan and four sisters: Velma Flanagan, Ruth Trout, Vanita Harris, Geneva James. He first worked at the Mt. Vernon Car Shops until he was drafted for war into the US Navy during World War II. He was a Minister for the Church of Christ for 65 years in Illinois and all over the south. Don also worked for Illinois Bell Telephone and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Garrett Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel in Waynesville, NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at Garrett Funeral Home.
