Connie J. Buchanan Downs

Waynesville-Connie Buchanan Downs, age 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2014, after a 14 year battle with cancer. Connie was born on April 1, 1950, to the late Robert and Georgia Rathbone Buchanan. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her half-sister, Robbie Mashburn. Connie is survived by her husband of 45 years, the Rev. Bobby Downs; sons, Michael and Clint Downs (Tamara); grandchildren, Zack, Isaac, Chloe, and Ian Downs; brother, Phil Buchanan (Debbie); half-sister, Sue Mashburn, (Ronnie); and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of Connie’s life at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Pleasant Balsam Church with the Reverend Ted Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. At Connie’s request there will be a private family burial.
