Waynesville, NC - Christine A. Bishop Coffey, age 89, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Madison County on July 28, 1931.
Christine was a faithful member of Jonathan Valley Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior for many years. In earlier years, she had a successful career as a nurse in various settings. She deeply loved her husband, children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and her Christian service. Her faith, wisdom and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her. She made a difference. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Reo Bishop and Lena Wilds Greene; husband, Frank L. Coffey, Sr; son Frank L. Coffey, Jr.; sisters, Easter Fisher, Sadie Coffey and Irene Fox; brothers, M.T. Greene, Clenard Greene, Albin Greene, and Walter Greene.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Donovan T. (Mary Christine) Coffey; two daughters, Kathy Robinson and Cindy (Joel) Wartel; grandchildren, Mark Robinson, Wesley Robinson, Mary Beth O'Hara, Christian Uttlinger, Jennifer (Noah) Mackintosh, Sayre Coffey, Matthew Coffey, and Liam Coffey; great grandchildren, Dren Robinson and Ruby Mackintosh; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be a private family memorial service officiated by Reverend Billy Ferguson. The service will be a live streamed for the public on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 3:00 PM on the Jonathan Valley Baptist Church Facebook page.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Charles and Jackie Coffey, Margaret Mashburn Burnette and Cheryl Cothern Ward for their devoted friendship to Christine throughout the years and to daughter in law Mary Christine Coffey and niece Mary Beth O'Hara for the excellent care they provided for Christine in her home during her illness.
