Betty Crawford Sutton, age 86 passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at her residence. Betty was born in Jackson County on November 2, 1938, to the late Cicero and Myrtle Robinson Crawford. She loved gardening in her flowers, singing and listening to gospel music. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She retired from Champion Dye and Finishing after 35 years of faithful service. Betty was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church where she served as song leader for several years. Betty will be remembered for her sweet personality and her infectious smile.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Sutton; son, Jimmy Sutton; daughters, Pam Gentry and Sandra Olvera; granddaughter, Angelina Sutton; sisters, Kate Chesney, Ethel Arrington, Harriet Woods, Lena Caldwell; and brothers, Roy Crawford, Earl Crawford, Lloyd Crawford, Carl Crawford and Alvin Crawford.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Mashburn (Harold); son, Jeff Sutton (Dawn); brother, Clyde Crawford; sister, Evelyn Turpin; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; special caregiver, Angie Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Jerry Nelson, the Reverend Roger Crawford and the Reverend Cody Mashburn officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In the days prior to the service family and friends are welcome to gather at the home of Harold and Linda Mashburn at 1254 Pisgah Drive, Canton, NC.
