He was born November 8, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Salvatore and Theresa Monderine Diana.
Tom graduated from River Dell High School in New Jersey and from Wichita State University. He was an outstanding baseball and basketball player at both schools.
His career as a Physical Education teacher and coach in New Jersey spanned 34 years.
Tom was a handsome, competitive, athletic guy, who played many sports; his later years were devoted to golf. He loved horse racing and was a passionate NY Yankees (his hero was Mickey Mantle), NY Rangers and NY Giants fan.
On July 29, 1968, Tom married Elizabeth “Libby” Alexander Diana, who survives him.
Also surviving are his two children, Lisa (Howie) Golden of Georgetown, TX and Tommy (Nicki) Diana of St. Petersburg, FL. Tom was blessed with five grandchildren who survived him, James (Samantha) Golden, Dr. Alex Golden, Samantha Golden, Trip Diana and Lucas Diana. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Jane (Christy) Bianco of Colonia, NJ and Joan (Larry) Tracy of Lewes, DE, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he adored and entertained with his humor.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 12 noon, the hour of a Blessing Service with Fr. J. Francis Frazer officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
