Juanita "Wompy" Helmick

Juanita "Wompy" Helmick, age 77, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania passed away at 3:01 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, PA. Wompy was born July 21, 1946 in Waynesburg, PA, a daughter of the late Hester C. Staley Durbin. She enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends, having a game of Rummy or just playing cards in general. Wompy loved going to the Waynesburg Restaurant or Isaly's, then going to the Busy Bee or Cherry Door with her mom, brother Robert and her nieces. Later in life she enjoyed going to Lavern's. She enjoyed a good game of Bingo from time to time. Wompy was a homemaker. She was baptized by Pastor Allen Anderson of Footdale back in the mid 70's. Years later she married Charles Roy Helmick who died September 6, 1997. Surviving are 1 Sister: Janie Duvall, her Brother-in-Law: Charles Tustin, 3 Nieces: Charlene (William) Kendell of Chesapeake, OH, Dolores Walker of Clarksville, PA and Detra Forsythe of Carmichaels, PA and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Deceased are 3 Sisters- Lucille and Elnore who both died in infancy and Edna Mae Tustin. There will be visitation held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the time of her service in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director with Rev. William Parker officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
