James E. "Big Jim" Hopkins, 74, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at home after a battling cancer for almost a year. Jim was born on April 23, 1950, a son of Mary Louise Cox Hopkins and the late William S. Hopkins. Big Jim was a member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge, the Waynesburg VFW Post #4793 and the H.O.G.S. Association. He was the owner and operator of the Jim Hopkins Masonry and Concrete and ran the business for more than 35 years. He also served as Franklin Township Supervisor for 18 years retiring in 2008. Big Jim enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, hanging with friends and enjoying time with his family. He dedicated many years of his life to serving Greene County and the community. His 1st Wife: Linda Kay Hopkins whom he married on July 23, 1966 died on January 12, 2006. His Wife: Vickie Stollar Hopkins whom he married on May 15, 2015 survives. Also surviving are 2 Daughters: Janet Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA and Amanda (Mike) Gaines of Waynesburg, PA, 2 Stepdaughters: Amy Farrar and Tami (Dave) Policz, 2 Sons: Troy (Kristen) Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA and Jason (Amber) Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA, 15 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Sisters: Marsha A. Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA, Helen (Robert) Mooney of Waynesburg, PA, Thelma J. Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA, 3 Brothers: David S. (Linda) Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA, Daniel C. Hopkins of Carmichaels, PA and Richard W. (Delores) Hopkins of Waynesburg, PA and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are 1 Son: James Michael Hopkins, 1 Grandson: Jon Wyatt Hopkins, 1 Great-Granddaughter: Shane Elizabeth Hopkins and 1 Brother: Michael Lee Hopkins. Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc., 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Valley View Farm, 102 Orndorff Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370 with Pastor Robert Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Oakmont Cemetery in Waynesburg, PA 15370.
