He was born December 27, 1944, in Glendale, WV, a son of the late James Edward Blake and Alma M. Richmond Blake.
Mr. Blake had worked six years as a bricklayer for Apgar Construction in Springfield, MA and for 17 years in the Tip Top Bakery in Syracuse, NY.
He resided in Waynesburg since 1992. He was a member of the First Christian
Church of Waynesburg. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461 of Waynesburg; president of the Avalon Court Resident Council; president of TRIPIL Board Services of Washington; and a resident board member of Greene County Housing Authority.
Surviving are his fiancé and caregiver, Elizabeth Kennedy of Waynesburg; three sons, James J. Blake, Jr., John Blake and James E. Blake III; several grandchildren; three brothers, James Edward Blake, of Missouri, Fred Blake and Jack Blake of Mt. Morris; six sisters, Violet Simms of Aleppo, Doris Hixenbaugh of Moundsville, WV, Ruby Witherow of Wellsville, OH, Donna Blake of Maryland, Peggy Hughes and Sandy Whipkey, both of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Nancy Kennedy, a caregiver.
Deceased in addition to his parents are two sisters, Ethel Rivers and Helen Abel and one brother, George Blake.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 with Gary M.
