Charlotte Huffman Levine, age 63, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 in her home. She was born December 5, 1952, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Joan Edson Huffman and the late Dr. Charles R. Huffman. She was a 1970 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School, where she was a majorette and involved in many clubs. After high school, she studied fashion merchandising at Massey Jr. College in Atlanta, Ga., and Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. She married Larry Levine on May 6, 1972.
Charlotte loved her family dearly and devoted her life to them. From 1972-1977, she worked at her father’s family medicine practice as a medical assistant. From 1984-2014, she worked in retail sales alongside her siblings at the family-owned and operated Radio Shack in Waynesburg. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband of 43 years. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her two children and a Mimi to her four grandchildren, ages 10, 7, 5, and 4 months. She imparted much wisdom, love, and support in this role. In the final year of her life, she was also, unknowingly, a teacher, inspiring others to live a life with faith, hope, love, grace, and courage in the face of insurmountable adversity.
Thoughtful, hardworking, and meticulous, Charlotte was the one that her family and friends could count on to get things done. Her affable and outgoing personality made her well liked in the community. In addition to knitting baby blankets, she especially enjoyed photography and had amassed quite a collection of pictures memorializing milestones and achievements of her family and friends. She was a member of the 20th Century Club, enjoying service-oriented projects that helped the children of Greene County. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughter Melissa (Thomas) Mertz of Venetia; her son, Jason Levine, of Houston, Tx.; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Matthew, Emily, and Isaac Mertz of Venetia; mother, Joan Edson Huffman of Waynesburg; sisters, Kathryn (Richard) Provo, Carolyn (John) McGrath, Elizabeth (Douglas) Brown of Waynesburg; brother, Charles (Christina) Huffman, Jr. of Waynesburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 W. High St., Waynesburg. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg, 169 W.
