He was born January 29, 1924 in Waynesburg, a son of the late G. Conrad Huffman Sr. and Blake Blair Huffman.
Dr. Huffman attended Waynesburg Schools and Waynesburg College. In 1951 he graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He interned at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. During his medical practice in Waynesburg he treated patients of all ages and delivered over five thousand babies.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an Army infantry sergeant in the Western Pacific. Following the war he co-founded the Waynesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars along with Fred Wallace.
Dr. Huffman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg; Waynesburg Lodge No. 153 Free and Accepted Masons, and the Waynesburg Elks.
He was an advocate for education, serving as a trustee of Waynesburg College for several years where he founded the nursing program. He had also served on the Central Greene School Board.
An avid golfer, he was the first club champion of the Lone Pine Golf Club and a long-time member of the Greene County Country Club. He enjoyed basketball which he played in high school and college, and had a love for animals.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Edson Huffman whom he married June 6, 1947; daughters, Kathryn (Richard C.) Provo, Charlotte (Larry) Levine, Carolyn (John) McGrath, Elizabeth (Douglas) Brown all of Waynesburg; a son Charles (Christina) Huffman Jr. of Waynesburg; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother G. Conrad (Ruth) Huffman Jr. of Waynesburg; two nephews, Aaron and Garrett Huffman; and several cousins.
