Bonnie Lee Kinsey, age 82, of Waynesburg, PA passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023. A memorial will be held on Saturday, November 25 beginning at 12pm, at The First Christian Church of Carmichaels, 235 Market St., Carmichaels, PA 15320, with a luncheon to follow.
Bonnie was born on November 30, 1940, in Steubenville, WV. She was a first generation American as her father, Edward Davis, migrated to the US from Wales, UK. He married her mother, Fay Simmons, of Weirton, WV, where Bonnie was raised surrounded by her large extended family and a plethora of friends. Upon graduating from high school, she attended West Liberty University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She later went on to earn a master’s degree (1993), plus 45 hours towards her PhD., from West Virginia University. Upon graduating from college, she married her college sweetheart Will Allen Hinerman, of Moundsville, WV. Together they moved to a 120-acre farm in Cameron, WV, where they had three children. When Will passed in the winter of 1979, Bonnie went to work as an elementary school teacher at Limestone Elementary School where she taught for over 30 years. While living and raising her children in Cameron, Bonnie was an active member of the community, the school, and her church. She served on the Cameron Rescue Squad as an EMT for 15 years, was a member of The Woman's Club (Cameron chapter), and was district president of the Wheeling chapter. She also belonged to the Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority for 30 years, and was a two-time recipient of ‘Woman of the Year’ at the First Christian Churches of Cameron and Carmichaels respectively. In November of 1994 Bonnie married Glen Kinsey (1934-2023) of Waynesburg, PA, where she remained until she passed. They were married for 29 years and enjoyed square dancing, classic car cruising, and traveling.
Bonnie is survived by her three children: Lisa Arlene Hinerman, Brenda Faye Hinerman, and Eric Allen Hinerman. She also has 5 grandchildren: Kian (15), Scout (14), Ethan (12), River (12), and Sawyer (8).
