William O. Hinerman

William O. “Bill” Hinerman, 79, of Waynesboro passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at his home after long battle with pancreatic cancer; he lost the battle but won the victory. He was born in Greene County, PA on May 15, 1936, a son of the late Burley E. and Virginia Violet Hinerman.
Bill proudly served in the United States Army as a SPEC 5, where he was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA with the Operating Engineers. After being discharged in 1962, Bill worked for Barnhill Contracting Company as a Heavy Equipment Operator on interstate road systems throughout NC and VA. Bill left his work in construction for a job in Waynesboro with General Electric/Genicom until retirement. In retirement, Bill enjoyed working on wood crafts and also around the house and yard. Bill was a faithful and longtime member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, James of Moundsville, WV and Loyal of Medina, OH. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joan Marie; two sons, William Andrew “Bill” and wife, Linda of Staunton and Bradley Grant of Waynesboro; two granddaughters, Kristin Hinerman of Staunton and Lily Hinerman and her mother, Cynthia Dyer both of Waynesboro; great grandson, Carter Hawkins of Staunton; two sisters, Alberta Pluff of Huntington Beach, CA and Patricia Loicono and husband, John of West Hempstead, NY; two brothers, Jack and wife, Joan of West Salem, OH and Delano and wife, Susan of Glen Easton, WV; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2015 at Waynesboro Church of Christ, 227 Bookerdale Rd., Waynesboro, VA 29980 with Michael Jones officiating. Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 340. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their loving care.
