Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked until his retirement as a machinist for ASR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Ruth (House) Hudson Helmick; siblings, Edward Jackson Helmick, Virginia Lee (Helmick) Marcum ,Blanche Helmick, Ann Bradford (Helmick) Fisher Wiseman,Eloise Marie (Helmick) Quick and Evelyn Mae (Helmick) Brown Cochran.
Survivors include his children, Darby Preston Helmick and Melissa Lynn Gray; step-son, Ronnie Hudson; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
