

Virginia Cory Parker, 79, of Woodrow Avenue, Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She was born on September 10, 1932, in Hampton, Virginia, the daughter of the late George Greenwell and Myra Attwood Cory. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Waynesboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Parker; and a sister, Betty Coppedge. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Parker of Onancock, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Charlie Coppedge of Lanexa, Virginia; five nephews, Brian, Scott, Steve, and Greg Coppedge and Glen Bevard; four nieces, Linda Cooper, Carol Parker-Trinh, Susan Drean, and Brenda Pond.
A memorial service will held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Reverend Kim Webster officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Emmanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery in Greenwood, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church, 473 South Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.
