Obituary of Virginia "Jenny" Martin Cook
Virginia “Jenny” (Martin) Cook, 83, of Waynesboro went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at her residence. Born in South Carolina on August 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Suzie Mae and Frank Robinson. During her life, Jenny was a devoted Christian. She was devoted to her family and left each of them with the greatest gift of love. Jenny worked as Charge Aide at Western State Hospital and retired after 25 plus years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Samuel “Sam” Martin and John R. Cook; her son-in-law, Dennis Guyer; her siblings, Kat Vincent, Frank, Tom, and Johnny Robinson. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kathy Arey, whom lived with and cared for Jenny during her final days., and Beth Guyer of Staunton; three grandchildren, Denise Johnson, whom also lived with Jenny and was her caregiver, Chris Guyer and his wife, Betty of Sherando, and Chad Guyer and his wife, Emily of Fishersville; two great grandchildren, Willie Johnson and his girlfriend, Lauren of Waynesboro and Kody Johnson and his wife, April of Waynesboro; her beloved great great granddaughters, Kaidynse and Skylar Johnson of Waynesboro; two sisters, Sue Hinson and her husband, Darrell of South Carolina and Becky Taylor and her husband, Otis of Alabama; sister-in-law, Barbara Robinson of South Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jenny also leaves behind her beloved pet dog, Byrd. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 24, 2015, at Augusta Memorial Park with Jenny’s grandson, Chris Guyer officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes in Waynesboro. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Hospice of the Shenandoah and very special thank you to Nurse Megan for all the wonderful care of Jenny.
