Virginia Ruth Hall

Virginia Ruth Wood “Ruth” Hall, 72, of Stuarts Draft, died on October 16, 2023, after an extended illness. Ruth is now in Heaven with her parents whom she loved so much as well as other family members.

Born on December 28, 1950, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred B. Wood and Joyce V. Jones Wood. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, “Bo” Robert S. Hall.

Ruth’s memory will be cherished by her daughter, Tracey Hall, of Waynesboro; her son, Rodney Hall, and his wife Natasha, of Nellysford; her grandchildren, Andrew Fix, Kelli Fix, and Alison Norman and her husband Cody, all of Waynesboro, and Dustin Hall and Blake Hall, of Nellysford.

Ruth is survived by her sisters, Doris Cook and her husband Barry, of Afton; Kathy Spencer and her husband Ben, of Yorktown; Rosemary Marrs and her husband Russell, of Afton; and Lisa Frazier and her husband Montie, of Afton. She is also survived by a special friend and cousin, Brenda Watkins, of Esmont.

Ruth will be remembered for her love of her family. Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother who absolutely adored her children and grandchildren. She fought to the end to stay here with them but unfortunately due to her health issues, Ruth had spent most of her last years in her home. She loved the independence of being in her home, and she loved talking on the phone with family and friends. She loved watching old westerns such as Gunsmoke and The Virginian as well as family shows such as Heartland. Ruth was always willing to share her opinions and thoughts with family members and friends. If you had an ailment, Ruth was always giving advice on how to treat it. She was known to her family members as Dr. Ruth. Her spunky personality and sassiness will forever be missed by us all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her!

The family would like to thank Ruth’s caregiver, Janice, and Ruth’s medical provider, Dr. Charles Cole, for all their support, help and understanding.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rockfish Volunteer Fire Department in Afton, Virginia. Reverend Duane “Chock” Johnson will be officiating. Family and friends will be sharing fond memories and expressions of sympathy.
