Theodore "Sonny" Craig

He was born on January 30, 1938 in Waynesboro to the late Theodore “Peanut” and Phyllis (Terrell) Craig.

Sonny grew up in Waynesboro. He married Jessica “Ellen” Fisher in 1960 and had been happily married for 56 years. Sonny worked at Wayne-Tex until his retirement in 1999 after 32 years of service.

He was a loyal fan of the Packers, Celtics, Indians and Notre Dame. Sonny loved to hunt with his dogs, enjoyed riding the mountains of the Skyline Drive, walking the streets of the “Philippines” in Waynesboro, while visiting his friends and eating lunch at the former Lucky Corner now, Jo’s Place. During the summer, Sonny could be seen “on the hill” at Kate Collins with his family and friends supporting the Waynesboro Generals.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Gina Craig.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, David Craig, Chris Craig and wife, Angie and Dwayne Craig all of Waynesboro; two brothers, Buddy Craig and wife, Mary of Verona and Freddy Craig (Patsy Nichols) of Waynesboro; three sisters, Georgia Goodloe of Glen Allen, Portia Fisher of Waynesboro and De De Craig of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Laura Craig-Sims and husband, David, Jeremy Craig and wife, Krista, Josh Craig and Sarah Craig; great granddaughter, Emma Craig; as well as three step-grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Sonny also leaves two special friends, Jamie Norman and Calvin Spencer.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Greg Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lewis Fitzgerald, Jerry Beard, Sonny Terrell, Phil Sandridge, Jim Meeks, J.C. Foster, Butterball Flynn and David Hoy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waynesboro Generals Baseball Team.
